Celebrating Pride Month!

Pride Month is a month-long celebration for the LGBTQ community that honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. This uprising is known for signaling a shift in the Gay Rights Movement, resulting in increased advocacy and support for LGBTQ rights. The term “Pride” acts as an opposition to the stigma and discrimination the community has historically experienced, and continues to face today.

Pride Month is celebrated in numerous ways around the globe; through parades, parties, workshops, advocacy events and more. Throughout this month, LGBTQ culture is honored and voices are uplifted. Additionally, the community and their allies advocate for equal rights and acknowledge the progress achieved thus far.

KGA recognizes that celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ community is essential in creating a world where every person is able to live freely and authentically. Our staff is here to support individuals that identify as LGBTQ and connect them with resources that are LGBTQ identified, allied and affirming.
